Create an App

Once you’ve gone through the steps in this guide, you’ll have a Headless Platform app, with one front-end environment, that has been deployed to the web. Any changes pushed to the connected repository branch will automatically trigger a re-deploy.

To create a new app, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the WP Engine User Portal.
  2. Select the Headless Platform tab.
  3. Click the + Create app button.

  1. Decide if you will proceed with a Blueprint or an existing repository.

Our Headless Platform allows you to deploy custom JavaScript applications, but also provides you with deployable Blueprints for popular types of sites. Blueprints use the Faust.js framework based on Next.js. Our Headless Platform also supports other frameworks that run on Node.js. You can choose which of these you want to use to build your app.

Using a Blueprint Select this option if you do not have a headless WordPress front-end site yet or want to try WP Engine's pre-built templates.
Using a Repository Select this option if you have a headless WordPress frontend repository ready to deploy.
